Both these pocket-sized, illustrated leaflets were launched on 12th September in Hitchin Market Place. Sun Street was researched and written by Zena Grant; Tilehouse/Bridge Street is a revised and updated second edition by David and Bridget Howlett; and the illustrations for both were by Clarissa Szertes. Barrie Dack did the design, layout and printing. Leaflets are priced at just 75p.

And the customers keep coming!
This book, by John Lucas, was launched on Saturday 31st October 2009 at Philpotts in Sun Street. John says the book is based on the recollections of Phebe Glaisyer (nee Lucas) who was a Reginald Hine 'Hitchin Worthy' and who was born in 1816 at the Brewery House in Sun Street (now Philpotts, the furnishers). John researched his book extensively at Hitchin Museum and elsewhere, but if anyone has information about the Lucas Brewery, West Mill, the Lucas/Thompson property in High Street or the Glaisyer family which may be relevant, he would be pleased to hear from you. He would also like to make contact with any other descendants of the Lucas family of Hitchin. Please let the secretary know (see 'contact us' in the list on the left) if you would like to send John a message.
The book is available for purchase from the Society (see publications page), in Hitchin from Eric T Moore Books, Waterstones and the Museum and Art Gallery; and in Letchworth from David's Bookshop. Price £ 10.95
This booklet is being updated by David Howlett and the reprint should be available later this year.
