When rumours circulated in Hitchin about the future of our Arcade, a group of concerned residents began to look more closely at this much-loved feature in our town centre.

Before long researchers, co-ordinated by Hitchin Historical Society, had uncovered a wealth of fascinating information, linking today's shopping experience with the town's historic past.

As the Arcade celebrates its 80th birthday, prepare to journey back through the centuries and celebrate its rich and varied contribution to Hitchin life.
