The Society has organised a number of events during this year’s Hitchin Festival.
Full details will appear in the Hitchin Festival Programme and booking places must be arranged through the Hitchin Festival Box Office.
The HHS events comprise –
* Saturday 5 July @ 11.00 am – 1.00 pm – Open Garden with the volunteers. William Ransom Physic Garden, Paynes Park. Free and booking not required.
* Sunday 6 July @ 9.30 am – Hitchin’s Railway History: a guided walk with David Howlett. £5.00 (Limited numbers; start details with ticket)
· Wednesday 9 July @ 8.00 pm – The Miss Lewis Lecture: The Magic of Mushrooms – an illustrated talk by Sandra Lawrence at the Richard Whitmore Studio, Queen Mother Theatre, Walsworth Road – £5.00
· Wednesday 16 July @ 7.30 pm – Hitchin Library Then and Now: celebrating 60 years of the new building at Hitchin Library, Paynes Park – Free but booking required. Organised by Hertfordshire Libraries with Hitchin Historical Society
· Wednesday 23 July @ 8.00 pm – The Scilla Douglas Lecture: Old Town New Suburbs: Hitchin’s Twentieth Century Buildings – an illustrated talk by John Grindrod at the Richard Whitmore Studio, Queen Mother Theatre, Walsworth Road – £5.00
· Saturday 26 July @ 2.00 pm – Hitchin Priory Park: a guided walk with Bridget Howlett £5.00 (Limited numbers; start details with ticket)
· Sunday 27 July @ 2.00 pm – Gaping Hills Lane – a foot in town and country: a guided walk with Nafisa Sayany £5.00 (Limited numbers; start details with ticket)
