The Physic Garden
The Hitchin Pippin apple tree has been moved, and if it starts to look unhappy the gardeners will replace it. The mystery apple tree mentioned in the January news bulletin turns out to be from Deacons Nursery, who do not stock Hitchin Pippin. This means that whatever it is, it’s not that, so the gardeners can donate it to Liz at the Triangle.
The Miss Lewis Lecture – 22nd July
It is now confirmed that as part of Hitchin Festival, our annual Miss Lewis Lecture will this year be given by Sara Oldfield, biodiversity consultant and former secretary general of Botanic Gardens Conservation International (BGCI), among other things.
Sara’s special interests are the vital importance of plant diversity and the conservation of endangered species. Her work this year will take her from Arizona to Antarctica, so we are lucky to have caught her between trips!
We hope you will drop by to the hear her on the 22nd July, it promises to be a fascinating and knowledgeable talk.
