The Physic Garden weathered the heat and drought of this summer well, helped greatly by Alan Fleck’s regular waterings and gatekeeping. A few minor episodes of vandalism were resolved when he removed felt-tip graffiti from the sundial, but the garden is looking lovely and all the gardeners’ hard work has paid off.
The mulberry tree had a mass of berries which were mostly eaten by birds earlier in the summer, but now it’s autumn and the gardeners are busy trimming and cutting back lavender and other plants that need it, and collecting seeds.
