The Hitchin Journal has been published regularly since the Society’s founding in 1977. Feeling it is a shame that the early articles (history themselves, now) are not readily available, the decision was made to produce a publication containing a selection of the best articles from the past. We hope to publish the book later in 2020. In the meantime, every so often, we are whetting your appetite with a sample from the back-catalogue of articles. This example will not be in the forthcoming book, so it’s a real bonus! The subject is a Hitchin centenarian, William Maylin, interviewed in 1903. Click here for the pdf.
