In the Year 2000, Hitchin Historical Society, in conjunction with Hitchin Forum, North Herts District Council, Hitchin Town Centre Initiative and The Comet, published a guide to the Blue Plaques which adorned thirteen buildings around the town centre. HHS had been instrumental in the installation of the plaques. The Blue Plaque Guide has been out of print for some time. A summary of the thirteen original plaque locations, plus a fourteenth added in 2011, can now be found on this website … here. This part of the website has been updated, including a separate page for each blue plaque site with illustrations. More will follow on some additional sites that have been commemorated.
