We are sad to announce the death of Laurie Hughes, after a short illness, on 6th May, aged 90.
Laurie was an active member of Hitchin Historical Society from its earliest days, involved in many aspects of its activities over a period of more than forty years. He will be greatly missed. An obituary can be read here.
We have also learned of the death of David McNamee, date not yet advised.
David was a man of many parts but, for HHS, he will always be remembered for his enthusiastic work for the Physic Garden, and a driving force in the publication of The Physic Garden in Hitchin – An Illustrated Guide. An obituary can be read here.
