This DVD consists of seven fascinating early films of the town and its people, from 1911 to the 1950s, which have been lovingly restored: the coronation Celebrations 1911, retrieved from original, fragile nitrate stock; War-Time Hitchin with its chilling images of a Nazi salute; the Spirit of Youth – Hitchin’s Youth Centre in 1948; the Story of Tilehouse Street 1950, dedicated to local historian Reginald Hine; and the Festival of Britain Celebrations 1951. The DVD has a playing time of over two hours.
